Performance, Transmission and Trims
The 2012 Kia Optima is available in five trims this year: LX M/T, LX A/T, EX, EX Turbo and SX. A 2.0L 4-Cylinder Engine produces 2200hp and 186 ft-lbs of torque in the LX and EX, while a 2.4L 4-Cylinder Engine gives the EX Turbo and SX an upgraded 274hp and 269 ft-lbs of torque. As you probably guessed, the LX M/T gets a 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive while the rest of the line-up gets a standard 6-speed electronically controlled Sportmatic automatic transmission with overdrive. Fuel economy ranges from 22 city/34 hwy on the EX Turbo and SX trims to 24 city/35 hwy on the LX and EX trims. Gas station stops will be few and far between with an 18.5 gallon fuel tank. It's possible to go more than 600 miles on a single tank. |

Features and Options
Cloth seat trim is standard on the LX and EX, while the EX Turbo and the SX get an upgraded leather seat trim. Also, the EX Turbo and SX have an heated and cooled front seats option along with a heated rear seats option for even more comfort. An 8-way adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support is optional on the LX A/T but comes standard on the EX, EX Turbo and SX. Pumping out the tunes on all trims is an AM/FM/CD/MP3/SiriusXM audio system with 6 speakers with front door-mounted speakers, though a premium Infinity Audio system with 8 speakers is available on all but the LX M/T model. For added convenience, all models also come equipped with USB and auxiliary input jacks to plug in any number of portable music devices. Never worry about fumbling for your phone while driving again, since the Optima comes standard with Bluetooth wireless technology and steering wheel-mounted phone controls. Adding even more convenience to all models are power door locks and windows, cooling glove box, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, overhead sunglasses holder and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink and compass.
