The History of the Kia Optima

Four generations of the Kia Optima have been driving on the roads internationally since 2000. The first-generation Optima was introduced to the North American market as the 2001 model year. The features on the original Optima were comparable to the features seen on luxury vehicles when it was first released. From year to year, the Optima's exterior styling changed slightly and the interior continued to receive upgraded features and new features.

Once again, the Optima was completely redesigned in 2010 and released as the 2011 model year, becoming the start of the third generation. The exterior became sleeker and sportier, drawing more attention to the vehicle. Technology became a primary focus for the vehicle's features adding a new infotainment system and new driver assist technology. After the 2011 model year, sales spiked making the Optima a frontrunner in the midsize sedan market.
This year's Optima is part of the fourth generation and it has also received a slight redesign for the exterior. Kia has continued to update the technology and features and continued to be one of the frontrunners in safety for midsize sedans.
